FHS Chapter 1 - Uninvited Savior Part 1

 --I hated this world.

He was bullied by delinquents at school, and he despised the pathetic him who didn't fight back.
He also loathed the people around him who turned a blind eye to it.

He cursed his surroundings for being so terrible and just drifted through the heartless days.
He thought about how great it would be if he could be reborn like in an internet novel, and with those thoughts, he'd go to sleep at night, only to wake up to the same dark and painful daily life in the morning.

For Yamato Takeru, a second-year high school student, the real world was a tough place to be.

"Welcome, Savior-sama."

That's why when he was called to another world, being called Savior, he thought his life would change.

All the relations were reset, and a new life began.
A chance to start over, a dream he had longed for.
He told himself that if he couldn't make this work, he would suffer for the rest of his life, forcibly igniting his weak heart.

― Carrying the name of a savior, he will walk the path of righteousness without shame, helping the people of this world who gave him the chance to become a new him, and earning their respect.

With that thought in mind, he vowed to live in a different world.

There were difficult battles and painful moments. Nevertheless, he continued forward without stopping.
It was all because He wanted to be recognized in this different world, even when he couldn't be acknowledged back in Japan.

And in the moment when he defeated the Demon Lord, he thought to myself.
"Now I will be acknowledged. I can change. My future is a bright one."

"That's what I thought..."
"Now the execution of Takeru Yamato, a sinner who claims to be a messenger of God, shall begin!"

Several hundred years had passed since humans and the demon race had started the war.
Takeru, who had defeated the demon lord in a one-on-one battle, bringing an end to the war, was now on the verge of execution by the people of the otherworld he had saved.

The reason is that he is an 'overpowered individual from another world' who can even kill the Demon Lord.

Despite being hailed as a savior, it seems that they viewed him as nothing more than a talking magical beast.
They thought that if he became unnecessary, they would need to dispose of him to ensure their own safety.

The fact that the people who had been so friendly up to this point were now directing hostility towards him was very painful and sad.

"'Former' Savior, do you have any last words?"

Takeru, who looked like a slave with a heavy iron ball attached to his wrist, was being looked down upon by the Prime Minister with cold eyes.

When he came to this world, the Prime Minister was his benefactor, helping him navigate through the unfamiliar territory. At least, that's what he had thought.
But, unfortunately, it seemed that the Prime Minister's true feelings were quite different from what he had imagined.

"Hurry up and kill me!"
"Scary!"

The people of the other world who had been kind to him until now were now glaring, shouting, and trembling as if they were seeing a hateful enemy.
It was such a dramatic turnaround that he even considered if he had been cursed with a 'hated by the world curse' when he killed the Demon King.

"Prime Minister...I'm...already tired..."
"I see... then, goodbye."

The sword that was swung down was very slow.
So much so that the expressions of the people around seemed to freeze...

"Ah..."

In the distance, at the back of the crowd, he saw a silver-haired girl crying out and reaching for me.

"Wait! Don't kill Takeru! Please! To me, he's the one—"

"――I want to save people."

The girl who wished to God and served as a saint to save the people.
He met her on the journey to defeat the Demon Lord, shared both joys and sorrows, and laughed together, and now—.

――Edelweiss is crying for my sake.

Suddenly, the heart that had been resigned just moments ago stirred.

It might be just one person.
Even so, he thought that if there were people crying for him, then there was a purpose for him to come to this world, a purpose for being born.

"Ah... I see..."

He hated boring daily life.
He hated himself for being so weak and unable to fight back even when he was being bullied.
He hated the people around him who turned a blind eye to the bullying.

However――.

“If I could die laughing at the end, my life would have been a happy one.”

The savior is summoned to another world and defeats the Demon King, but his life is extinguished by the humans of that world.

――It was supposed to be.

[Modern World]

"An unfamiliar ceiling, isn't it?"

A somewhat familiar sight.

Looking at the white ceiling in front of him, he thought that the afterlife was more normal than he had expected.

Takeru remembered that he had died a little while ago.
He remembered fighting as a savior in another world, being betrayed by the people, and then..."

“Edelweiss was crying.”

It was the first time Takeru had seen Edelweiss, who was always smiling and not trying to show weakness, so distraught.
He felt sorry for her, but at the same time he felt a little happy.

Takeru witnessed Edelweiss, who usually wore a smile and never showed weakness, becoming so distraught, something he had never seen before.
While he felt sorry for what he had done to her, at the same time, a small sense of happiness welled up within him.

――Only one person, Edelweiss, believed in him.

"Well... let's put reality-escapism aside for now... Why am I alive?"

Looking around, it's clear that this is a hospital room.
And not in another world, but in modern-day Japan.

"Have I returned to this world? Or... was that three years of battle all just a dream?"

It couldn't be.
The kindness and hatred of the people, the earthy scent of blood, the sensation of cutting down monsters and people – everything was real.
And at the same time, the death he experienced in that world was also real.

"Well, there's no point in thinking about something you don't understand."

Having been summoned to another world and experiencing events like something out of a dream, he had become less easily surprised by this level of fantasy.

He tried to get up to assess the situation, but then he realized that his body wouldn't respond.
Unintentionally forcing his body to move had resulted in strange sounds and pain――

"Ouch――!? Aah, there're fractures everywhere."

It was just a feeling from the battle so far, but there was probably no doubt about it.
Takeru, thinking so, put his hand on his own body.

"'Recovery All'"

It's the Holy Magic that Saint Edelweiss once taught him.
He can feel the gentle green light warmly healing his body.

"It should be okay with this."

Takeru gets off the bed as if there were no broken bones in his body in the first place.
For Takeru, who was summoned as a savior, injury and death were always side by side, so he put a lot of effort into learning holy magic.

In the past, in battles with demons, there was an environment where if you couldn't heal quickly even during battle, no matter how many lives you had, it wouldn't be enough.

"Come to think of it, being able to use magic confirms that this isn't just a dream, huh?"

Realizing that the battles in that world were indeed real, he felt a slight sense of relief.
Even though the end was the worst, he still didn't want to think that the path he had taken was 'something that never existed' in the first place.

He still had many unanswered questions, but he knew he needed to ask someone to understand the situation.
However, there was no one around at the moment, so he decided to go to the restroom to freshen up his face.

"What's this? I thought I had fully healed, but..."

Somehow, his body is heavier than usual.
He wondered if it was the effects of death, but when he entered the bathroom and looked in the mirror, he was taken aback.

"....ha?"

In the mirror, there was the reflection of a completely unfamiliar boy.
