FHS Chapter 1 - Uninvited Savior Part 2

It was only after he returned to the hospital room and caused a commotion that he learned that he was apparently Kusanagi Takeru, not Yamato Takeru.

"Takeru! You're awake!"
"No, no, no! You had broken bones all over your body, right? How can you move so much?"
Probably after listening to the words of her mother and the doctor and thinking about what to do, he decided...

"Um... who are you?"

He decided to pretend that he had amnesia.

"So I was playing with my friend on the roof when the fence broke and I fell down."
"Yeah……"

When Takeru hears this from the woman who seems to be the mother of this body, he wonders if something like in the manga really happens.
However, since he didn't know anything about this area, there's no way he could give an answer, and the police will probably had to investigate.

Putting aside what he didn't understand, I did another thorough inspection and found out...

"I can't believe it..."

The doctor's diagnosis was that he was healthy, with no external injuries, no illnesses, and no abnormalities other than his memory.

"It's impossible for such a wound to be completely healed... even a skilled healer can't do that. It's like drinking a legendary elixir, isn't it?"
"Ah, now that I think about it, I feel like someone I don't know made me drink a strange liquid..."
“What?”

The doctor made a game-like comment, and he unintentionally responded in a similar manner, and they enthusiastically went along with it.

“What kind of person was he?”
"Ah, no..."

At first he answered that he didn't remember, but since it was an abnormal situation for someone who had broken bones all over his body to be in such a state of shock, he decided to stop saying anything unnecessary.

He realized that it was a mistake to try to heal his major injuries on his own, even though he didn't fully understand the situation.

Then, after a while of avoiding the doctor's flurry of questions by saying, "I don't know, I don't remember, I don't remember anything," someone who appeared to be his father came over.

"Takeru! You really woke up!"
"a……"
"You! Playing on the rooftop and falling... this..."

A man who appeared to be his father had tears in his eyes as he embraced Takeru, and unable to bear the sight, Takeru's mother also joined in.
In the face of the two people sobbing and apologizing, Takeru could only express his confusion.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember anything about the two of you..."
"No, just being alive... Just waking up is all we need."
"That's right! Aah, we're really, really glad..."

From the actions of these two, Takeru realizes that at least Kusanagi Takeru grew up being loved by his parents.

――I see, then...

I don't know what has happened to this body.
But this boy is loved so much.
And I am like a ghost who has died once.
So, I decided that someday, if I could find a way to return this body to its original owner, I would definitely return it.

Because Takeru knew how amazing it was to be loved by just one person.

――right, Edelweiss?

In that world where the rest of the world became his enemies, he thought of the girl who was his only ally and laughed softly.

――Amnesia is usefull.

The reason he thought like this was because, when things get tough, he could pretend not to know.

In the end, after undergoing various tests, it was determined that there were no injuries and he was in good health, so he was discharged from the hospital.

The machines used for the examination looked much more futuristic than what Takeru was familiar with, making it seem as if he had wandered into a sci-fi world. However, the fact that Japanese was understood indicated that this was probably Japan.

However, when Takeru looked around from the car driven by his father, he couldn't help but wonder if this was really the same Japan he knew. It seemed unusually clean and pristine compared to the city he was familiar with.

At the very least, the scene looked quite different from the Japan Taqel remembered from the year 2000――

'Now it's time for the news.'
"...."

As I watched the TV in my car, trying not to say anything unnecessary, I was first surprised to see that the year was 2040, and then I was even more surprised at the images that came out.

'Thanks to the hunters, the city is peaceful today. Thanks to their activities, we can live a peaceful life.'

What is shown in the video are monsters running rampant in modern society and humans fighting against those monsters.

"....ha?"
"What's wrong, Takeru?"
"No, um, this is...?"

Creatures that were perceived as threats in the other world, such as goblins and orcs, seemed to have been exterminated by the "Japanese people."

The scene, like a live-action adaptation of a sentai TV show or a manga, felt so out of place for Takeru, who had been battling in another world.

"You know, the activity of the Hunters are really amazing. If only I were younger, I could have become a Hunter and made my mark. Hahaha."
"Oh my, dear. You are clumsy, if you become a hunter won't you die quickly?"
"Hahaha...."

With a wry smile, Takeru listened to his parents' words and watched the TV.
For now, it seemed that "Hunters" were commonly recognized as a normal part of society.
It appeared that they could use magic, and they were capable of movements that were impossible for the Japan that he was familiar with.

――I am glad I pretended to lose my memories

Suddenly, as he praised the position he had set up for himself, the space in the direction the car was heading began to distort.
At the same time, a massive 'shadow of something' appeared.

"O, ooooo!?"
"Kyaaaa!?"
"tsu――――"

Due to his father's panicked swerving, the car experienced an incredible centrifugal force, causing the vehicle to shake violently.
If things continued like this, it would be bad for him as well as the two in the car! With that thought in mind, Takeru quickly raised his hands.

"Ku――――Protect Guard!"

Just before they were about to crash into the guardrail, Takeru cast a protective spell on both of them.
The spell wasn't meant to block enemy attacks but rather to enhance the individuals' defenses, enveloping Takeru's parents in a thin, bluish membrane.
At the same time, a tremendous impact occurs.

"Uh...."
"It hurts....not?"
"Are you both okay?"
"A, aah..."
"Eeh..."
"Then I'm glad...?"

With relief that he had made it just in time, Takeru couldn't help but squint as he looked at the scene reflected in the car's front windshield.
The wavering, pale blue distortion in space looked just like the summoning magic he had seen long ago in the "other world."――――

"Th, this is bad! You two, this is Gate Break!"
"How could it be! W, we have to run!"

His parents were panicking, unable to comprehend the situation.
As Takeru looked on in confusion, a massive, demon-like creature emerged from the distorted space.

"...This is modern Japan isn't it? Why is there an ogre?"
"Quick! Takeru, come over here!"

Takeru's parents, who had just gotten out of the car, were desperately calling out to him.
Indeed, ogres are powerful creatures.
Ogres in the kingdom were formidable opponents, typically requiring trained knights to face them in groups, an untrained individual would be torn apart with bare hands.

However, from Takeru's perspective, who had defeated even the Demon Lord, it was just an Ogre.
Even though this body wasn't his original one, Takeru knew he could use magic in the hospital room, so an opponent of this caliber was――

"No..."

Takeru looked around. The appearance of a monster and people fleeing was the typical reaction of "ordinary people."

Once, in another world, Takeru Yamato was feared for his great power.
Too much power can only lead to disaster, and above all, this body belongs to "Kusanagi Takeru", not "Yamato Takeru", who was the savior.

If he attracted attentions when showed his magic here, it would cause trouble when he returns this body later.

――More importantly, I don't want to be feared anymore.

"...I should run, I guess?"

When he turned around, he saw his parents desperately screaming at him.
At the same time, there was a sign of an ogre approaching from behind them with tremendous force.

"Guoooo...."
"Shit, make it in time!"

――Flare Burst!

He reflexively put magic power into his hand and shot it, and a fireball flew out of nowhere almost at the same time.

"Ah, this is bad."

The bad thing is the order.
First, Takeru's magic causes the ogre's face to blow up.
Afterward, a fireball that flew in passed through where the ogre's head used to be and landed on the ground.

It means that the fireball that came later did not hit the ogre.

"...."

He felt someone's gaze.
When he looked in the direction where the fireball came from, he saw the figure of a girl watching us from the top of a distant building with a steady gaze.
The girl in a school uniform with golden hair in a ponytail had a look of suspicion in her eyes.

――This might become troublesome later on.

While thinking such things, feigning not to have noticed the girl's presence, he ran away from the scene with "Kusanagi Takeru"'s parents who were approaching out of concern.
